✨“I often wonder whether those that are too pure are destined for fleeting lives, like cats that are beautiful and white as snow, or birds with gossamer feathers”

I grabbed this book at the library on a whim, without really knowing what it was about HAHA,, I’m so glad I did, though, because I really enjoyed it! It had such a warm, relaxing, and reflective vibe all at once.*Dead-End Memories* is essentially a collection of five short stories that use romantic relationships to explore deeper themes about life and the small, meaningful moments that truly matter. The metaphors Yoshimoto employs and the truths she reveals about our existence are articulated with such delicate beauty—it’s simply stunning!

This was my first time reading Yoshimoto, and I was captivated by the sensitivity in her writing. She brings seemingly ordinary events to life with her nuanced descriptions of the characters’ emotions and actions, illuminating the many small yet significant considerations that resonate with the reader (peep the captured pages of the book!).

I definitely recommend this read and hope you find strength in her writing, gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and the world! Now, it’s time for me to add more of her books to my tbr! :’)
